HSE have published new guidance for legionella control in April 2014. To ensure you are legally compliant please call us today. It is a legal duty for areas within buildings where the public, including employees and residents, have access, to be assessed as safe against Legionella. HydroAction can give you peace of mind by carrying out a full risk assessment and provide you with the correct protocol for managing the legionella risk.

We will:

  • Provide a report
  • Carry out a risk assessment - every two years
  • Draw up an asset register
  • Provide an up-to-date drawing/diagram showing layout of the plant or system including parts not currently in use (optional)
  • Identify your source of water for hot and cold systems and your usage of the system i.e. size of water storage tank
  • Assess the possible sources of contamination
  • Review plant operating characteristics
  • Identify foreseeable operating conditions e.g. what to do in event of breakdown

Should any remedial works be identified in your report it is your responsibility to ensure they are carried out on a timely basis however we can help you meet these targets.

Managing future risk

You should appoint a person/s to take managerial responsibility for water and prevention of legionella with clear lines of communication and have guidelines in place for emergency procedures.

You will need to have a plan of work in place which records your activity in preventing legionella i.e. water monitoring and testing, remedial works undertaken.
